Last Thursday, the sun was shining, the breeze was perfect, and I found myself on a little culinary adventure that turned out to be anything but ordinary. I was invited by Mr. Anand, the owner of Asian Fried Chicken, to try out what he confidently described as not your regular fried chicken outlet—and let me tell you, he wasn’t exaggerating.

Walking in, I expected the usual fried fare, but what I discovered blew me away. As a fitness instructor, I’ve trained myself to look past the cravings and stick to clean, nourishing meals. So imagine my surprise when I found a menu that not only tempted my taste buds but also respected my health goals.

Mr. Anand’s approach is revolutionary. Yes, they serve fried chicken—but it’s elevated with bold Asian spices, creative techniques, and a mindful touch. There are grilled options with just the right amount of char, baked bites that still have a satisfying crunch, and sides that are fresh, light, and far from greasy.

One dish that stole my heart? The fried chicken thigh marinated in a tangy blend of Southeast Asian spices, tomyam wrapped in golden crisp, and served with a zesty lemon. It was everything I needed—flavor-packed, high-protein, and clean. It felt indulgent but aligned perfectly with my diet.

And let’s talk about the Chicken Karaage—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, marinated with fragrant Asian spices, and served with a dipping sauce that hits all the right notes. It’s a Japanese-inspired dish that delivers the comfort of fried chicken, with a lighter, cleaner finish. I couldn’t stop at just one bite!

What I loved most was the balance. Asian Fried Chicken doesn’t preach about health—it lives it. The team understands that food should fuel the body and feed the soul. Whether you’re deep in training or just want a flavorful meal without the post-binge guilt, this place has your back.
To wash it all down, I was treated to three refreshing local cooling drinks that truly elevated the meal:
- A cooling cucumber drink, light and hydrating, with a touch of mint that instantly revived me.

- And a pandan cooling drink—aromatic, soothing, and subtly sweet. It paired beautifully with the bold flavors of the food and left me feeling refreshed instead of heavy.
- Assam Boi with lime– Tangy, salty-sweet, and super refreshing. This one’s for the bold flavor lovers! My choice-my favourite!

Just when I thought the meal couldn’t get any better, dessert arrived—a tantalising, not-a-sin Chia Pudding. Creamy, subtly sweet, and topped with fresh mango fruit and a drizzle of natural honey/syrup, this dessert was a revelation. It was the perfect ending: light, satisfying, and totally unexpected. For us health freaks, it felt like a treat without a single ounce of guilt. I could have this every day and still stay on track!

Bonus? They offer lunch packages starting from just RM13.90!
Yes—you read that right. Delicious, balanced, and affordable. Whether you’re on a break from work, a busy student, or a fitness lover looking for a quick, clean bite, these lunch deals are a total win.

And here’s something that warmed my heart as a family-oriented fitness enthusiast—
Asian Fried Chicken offers a dedicated kids meal menu that’s both fun and nourishing. Each meal is thoughtfully portioned and designed to appeal to younger palates, without resorting to overly processed ingredients.
Some of the kids meal highlights include:
- Mini chicken karaage bites – crisp, lightly seasoned, and perfect for little hands.
- Steamed rice or nasi lemak/nasi goreng – as a balanced base.
- A side of veggies – like crunchy sweet potato fries.
- Fresh fruit cups – a naturally sweet ending that parents can feel good about.
- Spaghetti with broccoli
- Kid-friendly drink – like chocolate, mild pandan-infused water or fresh juice.

It’s a great way to introduce kids to real food flavors in a playful, health-conscious way. Whether you’re dining in with family or grabbing something on the go, this thoughtful touch makes it easy to bring your little ones along without compromising on nutrition.

So, if you’re a fellow fitness freak (like me), or someone just trying to make healthier choices without sacrificing taste, Asian Fried Chicken is a spot worth checking out. Thank you, Mr. Anand, for showing me that “fried” doesn’t have to mean “forget your goals.”
Until the next delicious discovery!
