Race Review: 21KM Half Marathon – Danang International Marathon Vietnam

What an unforgettable experience at the Danang International Marathon!

We took a direct flight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Da Nang International Airport, and everything started off smoothly. A pre-arranged Grab was waiting for us—completely hassle-free. And honestly, our driver felt like an F1 racer… fast and furious 😄 but got us to our destination safely!

Upon arrival, we checked in at Paracel Hotel Danang, dropped off our bags at the lobby, and headed straight to the race expo. The best part? It was only about 1KM away! Super convenient.

The location itself was absolutely stunning—beautiful coastal views and such a lively setting. Collecting our race packs was quick and seamless, leaving us plenty of time to soak in the atmosphere. We snapped lots of photos, met runners from all over the world, and truly felt the energy of the event.

The vibe? Electric. Vibrant. Inspiring.

This is what the running community is all about—connection, passion, and shared goals.

Can’t wait to hit the starting line!

📍 Race Expo & First Impressions

One of the best parts about our stay was the location. The race expo and event venue were just about 1KM from the hotel—super convenient and perfect for pre-race preparation.

The walk there already set the tone. The coastal views were absolutely stunning, and there was a calm yet exciting energy in the air.

Collecting our race packs was smooth and efficient—no long waits, no confusion. Everything was clearly organized. With that done, we had time to truly enjoy the experience—taking photos, soaking in the atmosphere, and connecting with runners from all over the world.

The vibe?
Buzzing, vibrant, and full of life. 🌍✨

It’s always inspiring to be surrounded by people who share the same passion.

Race Morning – The Build-Up

Race morning arrived with a mix of excitement and nerves—the kind that reminds you this matters.

Standing at the starting line in Da Nang, surrounded by thousands of runners, was an experience in itself. There was a quiet focus, but also an unspoken connection between everyone there.

Different goals, different journeys—but one shared moment.

The Race – 21KM of Challenge & Growth

From the start, I focused on staying controlled. The first few kilometers felt strong—breathing steady, pace comfortable, mind calm.

Then came one of the most memorable parts of the race—crossing the bridges.

First Bridge

The first bridge felt empowering. Legs were still fresh, rhythm was there, and confidence was high. It was one of those moments where everything feels aligned.

The Turning Point – After 10KM

After the 10KM mark, the race began to change.

The second bridge appeared—and with it, the uphill climb.

This was no longer just a run.
This was a test.

The incline felt long and demanding. Legs grew heavier, breathing deeper, and every step required intention. It wasn’t just physical anymore—it became mental.

That inner voice starts to speak:

  • “Slow down”
  • “Take a break”
  • “This is enough”

But this is where endurance is built.

Step by step, I chose to keep going.

💧 Organisation & Support

One thing that truly stood out was how well-organized the race was.

  • Distance markers were clear and consistent—helping to mentally break the race into smaller, manageable segments
  • Marshals were present throughout the course—encouraging, guiding, and ensuring safety
  • Water stations were strategically placed and very well managed—exactly when you needed them

These details may seem small, but during a race, they make a huge difference. They keep you focused, supported, and moving forward.

The Final Stretch – Mind Over Matter

As the final kilometers approached, fatigue became real.

Legs were tired. Energy was dipping. But the finish line was getting closer.

This is where everything comes together—not just your training, but your mindset.

I reminded myself:

  • Why I started
  • The discipline behind every training session
  • The commitment to show up

And with that… one step at a time, I pushed through. Then, I saw my hubby waiting for me about 500m from the finishing line, hand in hand we ran together, holding our Jalur Gemilang and crossing the finish line together!

The Finish Line – A Moment to Remember

Crossing the finish line was pure emotion.

Relief.
Pride.
Gratitude.

Every challenge along the way made that moment even more meaningful. It wasn’t just about completing 21KM—it was about overcoming doubt, pushing limits, and proving to myself that I could.

Lessons from Da Nang

This race gave me more than just a medal. It gave me perspective.

  • Trust your training—it shows up when it matters most
  • Respect the course—especially the hills
  • Endurance is as much mental as it is physical
  • Small moments (support, scenery, energy) carry you through
  • Enjoy the journey, not just the finish line

Final Thoughts

The Danang International Marathon was more than just a race—it was an experience.

From seamless travel, a vibrant race expo, breathtaking views, and a challenging yet rewarding course… everything came together beautifully.

And most importantly—it reminded me why I run.

To grow. To challenge myself. To feel alive.

Already looking forward to the next start line.

A Night to Remember at The Good Live, S2 Seremban- Great Food, Great Music, Great People

Birthdays… a celebration of life and the beautiful gift of being here!

Last night (14th March) was more than just an early birthday celebration — it was a celebration of life, friendship, music, and gratitude. Some cultures say celebrating a birthday earlier brings bad luck, but for me, every day we wake up is already a blessing worth celebrating.

We spent the evening at The Good Live, and honestly, it lived up to its name in every way.

The Place
The atmosphere is warm, lively, and welcoming — the kind of place where you instantly feel comfortable. It’s a lovely family-friendly joint where people come together to relax, enjoy good music, and just have a great time. The vibe is energetic but not overwhelming, making it perfect whether you’re there for dinner, drinks, or dancing the night away.

The Music
One of the highlights of the night was the live performance by our favourite band, The Signal. A local Malaysian Band. They never disappoint. Talented in many ways, from Chinese Songs, Malay Songs, English Songs, Tamil Songs too. Their music set the mood perfectly — lively, engaging, and impossible not to dance to. The moment the band started playing, the whole place came alive.

The Food & Drinks
The drinks were fantastic. I was treated to a Spicy Margarita on the house, and it was sensational — bold, refreshing, with just the right kick of spice that really spiced up the night.

We were also surprised with a beautiful fruit platter, compliments of the house. Fresh, colourful, and the perfect refreshing treat while enjoying the music and dancing.

The People
But what truly made the night special was the company. I was surrounded by my “partners in crime” — my workout buddies, my Zumba ladies, my good friends who have been there through every season of life. These are the people who sweat with you, laugh with you, support you, and celebrate with you.

There was music, drinks, laughter, and dancing all night long. Moments like this remind me how lucky I am to be surrounded by such wonderful people.

Grateful for friendship, grateful for the memories, and grateful for the beautiful gift of life.

If you’re looking for a place with great vibes, live music, good drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere, The Good Live is definitely a fantastic place to be.

Cheers to life, friendship, and celebrating every moment.

AQUA ZUMBA with Christine Wong

Aqua Zumba is a water-based fitness class that combines the dance moves of Zumba with aqua aerobics performed in a swimming pool. Participants follow dance routines (often to Latin music like salsa, merengue, and reggaeton) while moving in waist- to chest-deep water.

Because the water supports your body and creates resistance, the workout is low-impact but still challenging.

Main Benefits of Aqua Zumba

1. Low impact on joints

Water buoyancy supports body weight, reducing stress on the knees, hips, and spine. This makes it great for people with joint pain, injuries, or beginners.

2. Full-body workout

The resistance of water works arms, legs, core, and back at the same time, helping tone muscles and build strength.

3. Good cardio exercise

The continuous dance movements raise your heart rate, improving heart health, stamina, and lung capacity.

4. Helps with weight loss

An intense class can burn around 350–500+ calories per hour depending on effort.

5. Improves flexibility and balance

Moving in water increases your range of motion and activates stabilizing muscles, improving coordination and balance.

6. Reduces stress and boosts mood

The music, water environment, and group atmosphere make it fun and social, which helps reduce stress and improve motivation.

Why many people love Aqua Zumba:

  • Fun “pool party” vibe
  • Easier on the body than land workouts
  • Suitable for all ages and fitness levels
  • Combines cardio, strength, and flexibility in one session.

Aqua Zumba is designed to be inclusive and low-impact, so many different people can safely enjoy it. Here are the groups who benefit the most:

1. Beginners to exercise

People who are new to fitness often find pool workouts less intimidating. The water supports the body and makes movements feel easier while still giving a good workout.

2. People with joint pain or injuries

Because water reduces impact on joints, Aqua Zumba is helpful for people with:

  • knee pain
  • hip discomfort
  • mild arthritis
  • recovering from minor injuries

This is why many physiotherapists recommend water exercise.

3. Older adults

For adults 40+ or seniors, Aqua Zumba can improve:

  • balance
  • mobility
  • cardiovascular health

The water also lowers the risk of falls compared to land-based classes.

4. People who want to lose weight

The water resistance increases calorie burn while keeping the workout comfortable. Many participants find they can exercise longer without feeling as tired compared to land workouts.

5. People who dislike traditional workouts

Since it uses dance moves from Zumba, created by Beto Pérez, the class feels more like a pool party than a workout, which helps motivation.

6. People who need a low-impact cardio workout

It’s suitable for people who want to improve:

  • heart health
  • stamina
  • muscle tone

without high-impact exercises like jumping or running.

💡 For your fitness clients, Aqua Zumba could work especially well for:

  • women 40–60 years old
  • clients trying to lose fat but protect their joints
  • beginners who feel shy in a gym environment.
