The ACIS Penang Bridge Run 2014

A race to remember and treasure for life…..Why? Well, it was the ACIS Penang Bridge Run 2014 and for the first time it was on the new 2nd bridge.

A race that I will always remember, running with my best friend, Melissa as well as my soul mate, My hubby, Segar Rajoo. A combo and awesome package deal! 60,000 runners signed up for this race! Running the 10km race is amazing but doing it with my BFF and hubby is a completely different feeling of pride altogether.

We the runners are a bunch of crazy people! Why? Well, we pay money to put ourselves through immense pain and called it fun and awesome! We compare our injuries and worn out soles of shoes like they were awards and trophies to be proud of!

Anyway, the huge marathon crowd dictated my pace. Can’t really zig-zag to pass runners. It was crowded plus it was way too hot. No breeze during the run until to a certain downhill point and I was wishing and hoping for rain. No rain despite the weather forecast of rain at 4am.

There were water stations and first aid stations at every 2km, so hydration was not an issue however, the organisers giving 500ml water bottles instead of cups was such a wastage.

The last 1km of the route saw a huge crowd choking up the street so I ran with the crowd. I got sucked into the slow moving crowd…At the final stretch…must look for best friend…….Must look for hubby…Look here, look there…..Super duper crowded! At last, met them at the “Sunquick” station.

All in all, it was a good race…and it will go down into my memory lane forever!
