A person may not be a runner or a fitness buff but participating in this run is a good start, and is, hence, a good habit to develop. It brings out the athlete in everyone that could unleash a greater potential.

It’s a non-competitive leisurely run and back for the second time 2016 after an overwhelming and successful run held in 2014, will be in Malaysian style “Terjulung kali akan dianjurkan di Asia!”  The Shamrock Run 2016. The soft launch of Shamrock Run 2016 was graced by His Excellency Eamon Hickey, the Ambassador of Ireland to Malaysia.

Mr Hafidz Kosai, the president of Malaysian Irish Alumni Association briefed that this is a run that is not to be missed! Why?? hmmmm….Well, It’s for me to know and for you to find out!!

It’s fun! It’s unique! It’s awesome pawsome!

My first Virtual Run “MM Rantau Green Run”

wp-1454565594558.jpgI must confess- I was clueless…what a virtual race was until MM Rantau Green Run was announced. A virtual run is a race that can be ran at any location. It is a race where you sign up online for a specified distance and then run at your own time.

These runs are on the honor system. You are responsible for submitting your time and running the required distance.

I was really pumped for this one, just because I liked the idea of a virtual race. Unique and something different and this will be my first virtual run medal. Continue reading “My first Virtual Run “MM Rantau Green Run””

Just keep running…2016

Three years into my journey to a healthier life after losing 10 kg. Proud and joyful however, on my bucket list…..to complete my first 21 km half marathon!

If you’ve ever ran a marathon before, you know how important pace can be. I obsessed over my endomondo time and timed my splits so that I can finish in the cut off time.

Every moment of the day will be a significant part of the rest of your life, whether you get your dream time or get carted off in an ambulance or worst still, get swept off by the “bus that sweeps the late runners”, you will have awesome, inspiring stories to tell and share with people after the race. Make them good!

I am really looking forward for my next run such as the Shamrock Run which will be held on the 27th February and also the KL City Run by FTAAA on the 28th February.

“The miracle isn’t that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start!”

The Cyberjaya Twincity Marathon

wp-1453731344366.jpgAnd my journey continues….. In the days leading to my first race for 2016 The Cyberjaya Twincity Marathon, my nerves started to get to me!

Just a few days before race day, tragedy struck! My dad was involved in a motorcycle and trailer accident. But by God’s grace, he survived and sustained with minor injuries. My one and only sister, Joanne who lives and works in Abu Dhabi immediately took the next flight home to be with daddy and the family. We are thankful and grateful to God almighty!

3R International Marathon 2015

My partner in crime Yun Ling

It was my first event, The 3R International Marathon 2015 in Putrajaya with my hubby and my two daughters. This time, I signed up for the 5km fun run because I wanted to run with my girls.

The location which was in front of the Palace of Justice, was a great location for a carnival. A stage had been set up for performances as part of the carnival.

Putrajaya wasn’t hilly but a lot of elevations from bridges and highways. The road was smooth and spacious and my daughters and I enjoyed the view and the serenity of the parks and beautiful flowers. I even bumped into my partner in crime during our working days with Genting Resorts Berhad, Yun Ling.

The ACIS Penang Bridge Run 2014

My best friend, Melissa Pragasam

A race to remember and treasure for life…..Why? Well, it was the ACIS Penang Bridge Run 2014 and for the first time it was on the new 2nd bridge.

A race that I will always remember, running with my best friend, Melissa as well as my soul mate, My hubby, Segar Rajoo. A combo and awesome package deal! 60,000 runners signed up for this race! Running the 10km race is amazing but doing it with my BFF and hubby is a completely different feeling of pride altogether.

We the runners are a bunch of crazy people! Why? Well, we pay money to put ourselves through immense pain and called it fun and awesome! We compare our injuries and worn out soles of shoes like they were awards and trophies to be proud of!

I run because I can!

Christine Wong

I run because I can……and as long as I can, I will!! Why? Well, I know it sounds a  little crazy, but here’s my story.

You see, 3 years ago…..my life came crumbling down and at that very moment in my life, my life just took a sharp turn. My mum was diagnosed with breast cancer and everything just stopped! It felt like thousands of needles pierced into my heart at that very moment. I was numb, depressed and overweight and my greatest fear is that I am also on high risk chances of getting cancer. I am a mother of three children, two beautiful girls and a wonderful son. But instead of acknowledging that voice within, I filled the void with lots of comfort food and lack of exercise.

Then, my beloved husband took me for a vacation to Phuket, Thailand, we went for a short hike that made something in me awoke. In that moment, for the very first time in I don’t remember how long, I began to feel alive again. It was if I was being reinvigorated by the energy of the sea, the waves, the forest and the breeze. Running became  my mission! If your goal doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you! My husband is my greatest motivator. We run together for most of the races. This was the truth… I run because I can!

While reflecting on the many lessons learnt on this journey, one of the most important is to “always do what you think it is impossible..but always remember to make the impossible be possible!

“So live healthy, live boldly, live big.” Don’t ask me why I run but ask yourself why you don’t!
